It’s spacious and offers a third-row seat, which is great for when you have kids who need to take naps in the back seat. The interior is roomy and comfortable, with plenty of legroom in the driver’s seat. Many safety features add peace of mind when driving your kids around town.

Why is RAV4 the best?

The RAV4 in the mid-range XLE Premium trim is our top recommendation. It is equipped with features and upgrades inside to make it appear and feel better than other models and does everything affordable.

The 2022 RAV4 is available in six grades of trims: LE, XLE, and the XLE Premium Adventure, TRD Off-Road, and Limited. Each comes with a 203 horsepower four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed auto transmission. FWD is mandatory on a majority of the trim levels, and some models offer the all-wheel-drive alternative. TRD Off-Road and the Adventure and TRD Off-Road are equipped with an upgraded all-wheel-drive system to increase performance on loose and slippery surfaces.

How enjoyable is RAV4?

The suspension of the RAV4 is designed to strike a perfect balance between softness and control. The body doesn’t bind or drift when driving through bumps, and minor to moderate impacts are taken care of with minimal agitation. They’re nicely sculpted and properly cushioned in the front seat, but the seat bottoms start to appear flat during longer drives. The absence of a passenger-side adjustment makes it difficult to get the most comfortable seat. When you are driving at high speeds, the RAV4 generally remains quiet. The only exception is when you go on the accelerator for a quick burst of speed. At that, the engine sounds become quite loud. We are satisfied with the effectiveness of the climate system. The air distribution is perfect with forwarding vents that can be completely closed off and vents for the back seat.

Best Tech

The RAV4’s interface is an array of touchscreens with fixed and touchscreen buttons. They are easy to master, and you don’t need to study their owner’s instructions. Although the RAV4 is fairly new, its touchscreen images look outdated. The audio system functions well enough, but nothing exceptional. It is compatible with basic Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. This is a great thing as Toyota’s own Entune software is clunky. The standard aids for drivers are quite impressive. It comes with adaptive cruise control, which works at speeds of 0 mph or less, as well as automatic emergency braking, sleepy driver detection, automated High Beams, Lane-Keeping assistance, and Line Tracing Assistance, which acts as the steering assist that is active.
