The Hyundai Accent is a good car. Although its engine is a little weak at highway speeds, it gets the job done, and the ride is comfortable over smooth pavement. Its gas mileage is good for the class as well. Inside, the Accent looks good, the seats are surprisingly spacious, and the features are easy to use. Trunk space is a bit below average for the segment, though.

Accent Engine Performance

Accent models have the same powertrain: a 120-horsepower four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Although the engine power isn’t impressive, this Hyundai still has enough juice to get you through your daily commute. The engine is quick enough to drive around town, but it can take a while to accelerate on the highway. This can make it difficult to merge or pass. The CVT works like an automatic transmission.

2022 Hyundai Accent Safety

The 2022 Hyundai Accent received an overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of 4 out of 5 stars. This includes five stars for the side crash test and four for the frontal crash and rollover testing. NHTSA notes that the left rear door can injure the passenger in the rear seat during side crashes.

Accent Interior Quality

Although the Accent’s cabin comprises a lot of hard plastics, it’s normal for this price range. The cabin looks good and is well built, despite the poor quality of the materials.
